A composition in two scales. The architectural rigour of the blocks — and the weightless scattering of drops around it: the city and the rain work at the same time, and neither subordinates the other.

Blocks of green ribbed plates read as the quarters of a transparent city with warm windows inside; through them and around them falls a rain of thousands of faceted beads.

By day it is green volumes in a clear suspension — a piece read through quarters and ribbing, dense and graphic. In the evening light from the blocks reflects in the beads and the composition shimmers like a city on a rainy night: the windows burn and the rain blurs them.

Where it works

Tall spaces — atriums, lobbies, grand staircases. A large statement piece: the rain is built downward and the blocks need volume around them.

Style

Urban modernism and Art Deco: the city as a formal motif. The message is large-scale — a piece for a building rather than for a room.
