A composition about sunflowers looking for the sun. The flowers face in different directions — the bouquet has no front and is beautiful from any position, because every flower looks where it needs to.

Dozens of petals radiate from a mirrored chrome disc with a hemisphere core: the chrome at the centres adds a contemporary edge to the warm amber.

By day it is honey-coloured blooms with mirrored centres: the bubbled mass reads against the light, a warm and generous piece. In the evening the light burns behind the disc and pushes out between the petals, tracing each with a fiery contour — the flower glows around its edges rather than from within.

Where it works

A dense crown above a round table or a scattering of flowers at differing heights in an entrance hall — the bouquet is assembled for the space. Having no front means it is viewed in the round.

Style

Art Nouveau and mid-century: the aster with a technical core. The message is warm and alive — a piece for an interior in a honey register.
