A composition about a frost star on a window. Sharp faceted spindles are gathered into burrs — a prickly, radiant form, exactly what hoarfrost draws: from a point in every direction, without symmetry.
The burrs are linked by gold arcs into a horizontal garland: ice on gold, cold on warm.
By day it is clear spiky stars on gold — a piece read through facets and highlights, sharp and festive. In the evening light burns at the base of every spike and the burrs begin to glitter with hundreds of rays: the composition charges a space with energy without overloading it with colour.
Where it works
Dining rooms, living rooms, lobbies, banqueting halls. Faceted spikes give a great deal of glare — the composition is formal rather than working.
Style
Art Deco and winter classicism: the crystal as a motif of celebration. The message is bright — a piece for an interior that wants brilliance.
The number of burrs, the spread of the garland and the density of the spikes are all made to order.
