Lighting composition
LC0443
A composition about an explosion in slow motion. Ribbon-strips — bent, twisted, alive — sit as dense crowns on rings descending in a vertical spiral. The piece reads as a flower flying apart frame by frame.
Every ribbon is bent separately: there are no two alike in a crown.
By day it is a vortex of white gloss on gold rings — the composition reads through the plasticity of the ribbons and their overlays, light and mobile. In the evening light stitches the rings with points and reflects in the gloss: the highlights leap from ribbon to ribbon and the vortex begins to turn.
Where it works
Staircases, entrance halls, double-height living rooms, atriums. The spiral reads as you climb — the composition is calculated for a viewer moving upward.
Style
Contemporary Art Deco and sculptural modernism: movement instead of ornament. The message is dynamic — a piece for a vertical that has to lead the eye.
The number of rings, the density of the ribbons and the height are all made to order.
