A contour drawing carried out into the air. The metal traces the form the way a setting traces a stone, and the middle stays empty — the piece consists of a line and of what that line encloses.

The elements stand close together and slightly rotated relative to one another. A moiré arises from that: move along the composition and the contours overlap and part again, and the field begins to waver while staying perfectly still.

By day it is graphic work — fine gold lines hanging against a transparent ground. In the evening the light sets every contour alight along its edge, and the drawing turns into a bonfire in which only the outlines burn and there is no fire inside.

Where it works

Long spaces: above a table for ten or more, in a lobby, in a gallery, in a meeting room, in a banqueting hall.

Style

Contemporary minimalism and graphic Art Nouveau: white walls, clean lines, no small-scale decor. The message is understatement — the composition shows the boundary of the object and leaves the contents to the imagination.
