A composition about a scattering of diamonds. Faceting of jewel precision is repeated hundreds of times: what usually exists as a single specimen kept in a safe is here poured out into the air.
The field is gathered into a wave: a deep centre, light edges. From a distance a diamond cloud, close up a collection of individual gems.
By day it is a clear field with gold tips: the facets catch daylight and scatter it, a piece read through brilliance. In the evening light enters through the gold and fills the faceting — every crystal flares from within, breaking the rays into rainbow sparks.
Where it works
Lobbies, banqueting halls, reception rooms, boutiques, dining rooms. The breaking light gives a great deal of glare: the composition is formal rather than working.
Style
Art Deco and jewel classicism: faceting as a subject in its own right. The message is rich — a piece for an interior that declares its level.
The number of crystals, their sizes and the shape of the cloud are all made to order.
