A composition about cold flame. An elongated lozenge twisted on its axis is a form you cannot draw at rest: the half-turn makes the eye complete the movement upward. The author sets the elements in a dense array, slightly turned toward one another, and the row reads as the crest of a wave or as tongues of fire rising all at once.

Clear, turquoise and opaque white elements are mixed with no system whatever. It is precisely the absence of system that keeps the mass alive: there is an array, but it has not been drawn up.

By day it is a ridge of ice — cold, sharp, with hard highlights on the twisted faces. In the evening the row begins to shimmer: the clear ones flare at the rim, the turquoise fill with colour entire, the white stay soft patches. Brightness wanders from element to element, and the flame turns out to be made of ice.

Where it works

An elongated horizontal format — long dining tables, bar counters, meeting rooms, reception areas. It is viewed along its length, so what it needs is extent, not height.

Style

Contemporary minimalism with a Murano note: clean geometry, colour as the only decoration. The message is restrained and design-led — a piece for an interior that rests on form.
