A composition about how light is caught. Here the sources are not hidden inside the elements — they stand separately, on fine gold rods, while clear caps with rolled rims hang around them and gather their light. The relation between light and form is inverted: the form does not glow, it catches.

The caps — broad, crumpled, with a wavy rim — hang at varied levels and are turned at random. The thickness of each wanders, so every one has its own runs and lenses: no two are alike.

By day the composition is all but invisible — read only through highlights, like dew on a web. In the evening the body works as a lens: a bright gold core appears deep inside every cap, and a glowing thread runs along the wavy rim. A cloud of fires, each one caught in its own bowl.

Where it works

Living rooms with high ceilings, stairwells, zones above a round table, lobbies. The layering reads only with height to spare — in a low room the composition flattens.

Style

Organic modernism and the Scandinavian school: a natural form, warm light, no symmetry. The message is contemplative — a piece looked at long and close.
