Light as art

Vargov®Design

Decorative composition

LC0174

A composition about what is left. The fragments are crushed and smoothed out again: folds, creases and torn edges are all preserved. The author does not assemble a form, he records a consequence. The object must look like what remains after something, not like something carefully put together.

The cloud is broad, the fragments at varied levels, turned at random, with no array and no symmetry. Large pieces with polished gold alternate with pearlescent ones, and small scraps are scattered between them.

By day it is scattered foil: uneven highlights, a random pattern, nothing predictable. In the evening the light flares as stars between the fragments — the crumpled gold reflects it unevenly, in bands along the folds, while the pearlescent diffuses it softly. No evenness at all, only patches and flares. A field of shards, each with its own highlight.

Where it works

Generous rooms with high ceilings — lobbies, double-height living rooms, stairwells, gallery spaces. The cloud needs air around it: pressed to the ceiling, it loses its depth.

Style

Contemporary art and brutalist luxury: the aesthetics of destruction, executed expensively. The message is bold — a piece for an interior unafraid of being uncomfortable.

The overall size, the number of fragments and the ratio of gold to pearlescent are all made to order.
