A composition about sparseness. What matters here is not what is present but what is absent: the elements lie almost flat, in layers at varied levels, barely overlapping. Between them, large voids. The flock is stretched through the whole body of water rather than packed into a shoal.

The form is a narrow feather with a wavy edge and a slight twist, repeated in three finishes: clear turquoise with internal marbling, opaque milky white, and gold with patina.

By day it is a flock suspended below the ceiling: sparse, light, read through individual silhouettes. In the evening one and the same beam behaves in three ways — the turquoise feathers transmit it and glow a cool green-blue, the white ones diffuse it softly, the gold ones reflect it sharply. Some elements burn, others merely gleam, others stay dark: a current lit from the surface.

Where it works

Generous volumes — atria, lobbies, pools and spas, double-height living rooms. Sparseness needs area: compressed, the composition turns into an ordinary chandelier.

Style

Marine modernism and contemporary sculpture: the movement of water as the principal motif. The message is calm and immersive — a piece for a space where people unwind.
