A composition about monochrome. There is no gold here and no contrasting inset — only white, and all the work falls to form and light. This is deliberate self-restraint: by removing the palette, the author makes you look at the plasticity.

A broad bowl with a rolled edge, one side raised and the other lowered, the rim wavy — an opened flower or a shell curled in water. The elements face in different directions: some open their mouths downward, others show a smooth back.

By day it is a field of white flowers below the ceiling — a quiet, almost soundless mass read through light and shade. In the evening the light emerges through the open mouths in soft warm patches and lights the thin walls from within, so the white fills with cream. From outside the elements stay cool and opaque: what you see is not form but a net of glowing mouths. A pool lit from beneath the water.

Style
