A composition about an inverted canopy. Gold trunks with forked joints carry a harvest: white petal-fruits and clear faceted drops. The tree grows downward, and the fruit hangs where the roots would usually be.

Three textures are gathered into one volume: matte whiteness gives softness and weight, faceting gives brilliance and transparency, gold gives structure. The canopy opens in layers as you walk around it.

By day it is a dense rich mass with not one surplus colour — a piece read through the overlay of three surfaces. In the evening the faceted drops light from within and scatter the light, the white petals diffuse it softly, and the gold picks it up and traces the structure: abundance without gaudiness.

Where it works

Dining rooms, living rooms, lobbies, banqueting halls. The dense canopy requires height — pressed to the ceiling, it loses its layers.
