A composition about sparks over a coal. Below, a large core of deep red; above it a plume of crystals rises — what flies up at the moment a white-hot thing is struck.

The red here is dramatic rather than decorative: the composition works on emotion and keeps a space under tension. Smoky mirrored crystals damp and set off the heat — without them it would be unbearable.

By day it is a ruby core with a plume of faceted shards — a dense colour read through faceting and depth. In the evening the core lights from within like heat in rock, while the smoky crystals above it only reflect it and stay dark: one point burns and everything else merely catches the glow.

Where it works

Interiors with a bold palette — bars, wine rooms, private cinemas, living rooms with dark walls. Against a pale ground the drama is lost.
