A composition about a rising seam. The eye reads a movement from the bottom up: a large nugget below, and above it a scattering of shards rising on invisible threads — a flare stopped at the moment of its ascent.

The nugget is built as a geode in reverse: a mirrored gold core inside a clear shell, with the light coming from the middle.

By day it is a faceted stone with a gold interior and a scattering of amber shards above it — a piece read through faceting and vertical movement. In the evening the core burns with a dense warm light, the shards shimmer with reflections, and the whole seam begins to rise: the light thins toward the top the way it thins through a body of water.

Where it works

Stairwells and narrow tall niches — where a vertical is cramped. The composition is built upward and takes little floor area.

Style

Natural aesthetics and Art Deco: the mineral as a formal motif. The message is rich and warm — a piece for an interior in a gold register.
