A composition about the stroke. Close longitudinal grooves run the whole length of the leaf, and that changes everything: the surface shifts in density as it turns, and light travels across it in lines rather than patches. The form acquires graphics of its own — the ribbing works like hatching in an etching.

The pyramid is dense toward the centre and thinned at the edges, with single leaves descending below. Bare cables with glowing points are set between them — they establish the volume and stop the mass congealing.

By day it is autumn foliage lifted to the ceiling: amber leaves mixed with clear ones, a warm mass living on the reflections along the grooves. In the evening the light enters at the stalk and spreads along the ribbing — every leaf glows in strokes, the amber ones fill with copper, the clear ones throw white sparks along their ribs. The sources are lost among the layers and the whole crown glows.

Where it works

Living rooms with high ceilings, stairwells, lobbies, double-height spaces. The dense pyramid needs height — otherwise the silhouette is lost.

Style

Art Nouveau and organic modernism: the leaf as a classic motif, the ribbing as the author's device. The message is warm and autumnal — a piece for an interior in a natural palette.
