A composition about dropped fabric. The panel is crushed and folded in large pleats — the form matter takes when you let it go. The author fixes chance: the pattern of the folds cannot be repeated twice, and that is the whole piece.

Close parallel ribbing runs across the entire surface, with a fine gold thread carrying point lights along the rim. The elements are large — each several times the size of an ordinary pendant — and hang at varied heights, in places running one into another.

By day it is fabric frozen in the air: the ribbing catches the light in bands, the folds give real chiaroscuro, and the surface reads as volume. In the evening the light runs along the gold rims and enters the ribbing, scattering across it in strokes — some passages burn brightly, others fall into shadow. The trace left by light rather than the fabric itself.

Where it works

Generous rooms — lobbies, atria, double-height living rooms, long dining halls. It exists in two formats: an elongated horizontal band and a multi-tier volumetric composition.

Style

Contemporary sculpture and Baroque drapery in a minimalist reading: the fold as a classic motif without classic decoration. The message is expressive — a piece for a space that wants a gesture.
