A composition about backlight. A real shoal seen from below looks exactly like this: some fish flare, others stay silhouettes, and it depends not on them but on the angle. The author reproduces the effect through finishes — scoring on the silver bodies breaks the light into a shimmer along the whole flank, while polished gold reflects it sharply.

Every figure faces the same way: what you read is the movement of a shoal, not a set of objects. Density is uneven — thicker at the centre, with strays at the edges.

By day it is a shoal below the ceiling: gold mixed with softly shimmering silver, read through silhouette. In the evening some fish glow and others stay shadow — a shoal running just beneath the surface of the water.
