A ribbon is packed from colourless glass rods set end to end, side by side. It bends in the air and folds into loops, its edge left serrated. Brass pins pass out through the ribbon and hold the sources, so light enters the rods from the side and travels their whole length. The whole mass hangs on a close grid of thin cables. Made to project.
