A composition as an event. This is not a luminaire but the central object of a space: giant wings opened to their full span, holding a hall single-handed.

Feather by feather, from the flight feathers to the down — the form is worked entire, with no generalisations. The mass with its air bubbles makes every feather alive.

By day it is a transparent sculpture: the bubbles read against the light, the feathers catch daylight along their edges, and the wings seem almost weightless. In the evening light flows along the edges from within, flares at the tips and runs down as needles of ice — the wings catch fire in gold while staying cold to the eye.

Where it works

Above a grand piano, in an atrium, above a formal staircase, in a double-height lobby. The composition requires complete openness: there should be no other accents near it.

Style

Art Nouveau and monumental sculpture: the wing as a symbol. The message is ceremonial, almost sacred — a piece for a space that has to astonish.
