A composition about rigging. A ship's tackle is translated into the language of luxury: some columns keep a genuine rope texture in a warm flax tone, others are twisted and faceted with light inside. Coarse fibre next to faceted radiance, craft next to jewellery.
The contrast decides everything, and it is underlined by one detail: the ends of all the columns are caught identically in polished gold.
By day it is a dense bundle of ropes: the flax texture reads tactilely, the faceted columns through highlights, an honest and heavy piece. In the evening the glowing ropes light the corded ones and the whole bundle smoulders like rigging at sunset — the light comes from inside the bundle rather than from outside it.
Where it works
Lobbies, restaurants, bars, lounges, interiors on a marine theme. The dense bundle is built downward: the composition needs height to spare.
Style
Brutal opulence and marine classicism: tackle as a decorative motif. The message is honest and artisan — a piece for an interior with character.
The number of ropes, the ratio of textured to faceted and the lengths are all made to order.
