A composition about the candle. The form reads unambiguously, with no stylisation at all: a cylinder in a gold sleeve. The author does not hide the reference — on the contrary, it is carried through to the end, giving every "candle" its own gradient from bright to dark, exactly as a real one burns hot at the top and stays cool below.

The cylinders hang closely at several levels, level at the top and ragged below. The calibres are identical, only the lengths differ: the candles have burnt down unequally.

By day it is a set of gold sleeves — a dense row read through metal and the matte white beneath it. In the evening the light runs down the cylinder: the matte section diffuses it and glows evenly, the clear lower part transmits it and almost fades out, while the transverse scoring breaks the glow into horizontal strokes. A row of burning candles suspended in the air.

Where it works

Living rooms, dining rooms, stairwells, lobbies, meeting rooms. The downward light lifts the surface beneath it — the piece works above a table.

Style

Contemporary classicism: the candle without the candelabrum. The message is warm and ceremonial — a piece for a table where people gather.
