LC0433
A composition about a spinning top. A top exists only while it spins — here there is a swarm of them, stopped mid-spin, tilted in different directions the way real ones stop.
The tilts decide everything: the composition is full of movement with not one moving part. Highlights slide along the lenses with every step the viewer takes.
By day it is a swarm of clear lenses on gold axles — a piece read through faceting and reflections, alive as you walk around it. In the evening light enters through the axle and runs out across the concentric faceting in rings: every disc begins to glow from the centre outward, and the rotation becomes visible.
Where it works
Living rooms, dining rooms, lobbies, meeting rooms. The movement reads as the viewer moves: the composition is placed where people walk past.
Style
Optical art and contemporary classic: rotation as subject. The message is intellectual and playful — a piece for an interior that loves paradoxes.
The number of tops, their calibres and their tilts are all made to order.
