A composition about a crown. Thick hoops with an inner bubbled texture catch on one another through gold collars — dozens of rings entered into each other like the links of a mail coat. The form is assembled not by suspensions but by its own linkages: it holds itself up.

The bubbles in the mass make the substance alive — it looks arrested at a moment when the movement inside it had not yet finished.

By day it is a massive precious volume: close up you see the precision of the form and the joints, from a distance a dense transparent mass. In the evening light burns in the collars and spreads through the rings, tracing each with a radiant contour: what remains is a glowing crown with not one source in sight.

Where it works

Entrance halls, reception rooms, dining rooms, banqueting halls. The dense volume needs height and clear surroundings — other accents beside it are surplus.

Style
