A composition about an upturned basket. Large faceted fruits hang in clusters beneath gold capitals, from which bundles of fine rods project — ears of grain above the fruit. The composition reads as a basket of precious harvest tipped over above the table.

The monochrome of transparency and gold makes the piece formal without being gaudy: two substances, not one surplus colour.

By day it is clear fruit beneath gold capitals — a piece read through faceting and highlights, dense and generous. In the evening the light comes from the capitals and fills every fruit, breaking up in the facets: the cluster fills with light from within the way a real one fills with juice.

Where it works

Dining rooms, banqueting halls, lobbies, reception rooms. The dense cluster requires height — clearance is needed beneath it.
