Lighting composition

LC0172

A composition about a flower made of a single leaf. The calla is a rare case in botany: its "flower" is one leaf wrapped around itself. The author takes precisely that peculiarity: a funnel with a sharp tip below, the inner spiral clearly visible and not concealed.

The composition is drawn out horizontally: the flowers hang on gold tubes of varying length, with empty tubes set between them to establish the rhythm. The elements are turned at random — some show an open mouth, others a smooth back.

By day it is a field of clear flowers, read through rims and highlights; the thick fire-polished edges give a sharp contour. In the evening the light travels the spiral of the funnel, reflecting off the walls, and bursts out at the tip as a bright point, while the body works as a lens — a gold core of its own appears inside every flower. Not a single direct source is visible: a swarm of luminous funnels above the table.

Where it works

An elongated horizontal format — long dining tables, bar counters, meeting rooms, reception areas. The light is gathered into points, so the composition gives directed rather than general illumination.

Style

Art Nouveau and contemporary classicism: a botanical motif in pure clear execution. The message is elegant — a piece for an interior that holds its form.

The length, the number of flowers, the suspension lengths and the finish of the tubes are all made to order.
