A composition about a ripple. The line of elements rises and falls, forming two crests with a trough between them: on the crests the elements bunch closer, in the trough they thin out. The wave is stated twice — by the length of the rods vertically and by the density of the spacing horizontally.

Each element is a narrow twisted ribbon with a ragged edge, crushed freely, with no repeats. It hangs on its own rod with a point source at the end: the light arrives from above, from outside, not from within the form.

By day it is a ripple on water — amber ribbons beneath the silver hatching of the rods, a pattern that changes with every step. In the evening the light travels from the point straight into the body, the ribbon picks it up and carries it through all its folds, and a burning core appears inside every element. Hundreds of cores give an unbroken warm field, while the rods above them stay cold. A golden wave suspended above the table.

Where it works

An elongated horizontal format — long dining tables, bar counters, meeting rooms, lobbies. The wave pattern is calculated for the length of the table.

Style

Contemporary classicism and organic modernism: water as motif, light as material. The message is warm and hospitable — a piece for a table where people sit long.
