A grove, not a row. The leaves hang at varied levels and orientations, and between them run bare rods with glowing points: hatching that establishes volume where there is no foliage.

The colour is subdued and olive: in places the surface is almost colourless, in others it thickens to bottle green. The faceted planes catch light differently, and one and the same green reads now warm, now cold.

By day the composition is restrained, almost graphic — dark foliage against a pale ground. In the evening the green fills from within, the tips flare as points, and the chrome reflects it all upward: a deep green tone rarely seen in ceiling light.
