The same line, released to any length. The composition is counted in running metres: the ribbon is extended section by section, and the pattern of the wave is composed for the particular room — a flourish with no set size.

The device of the line is kept whole: the ribbing changes density as it turns, and the lights along the edge are spaced unevenly, stressing the bends where the line turns. No section repeats its neighbour, because repetition would kill the gesture.

By day it is a smoky band frozen in the air — almost graphic work, almost a drawing, read through its trajectory and the hatching of the ribbing. In the evening light runs along the edge and scatters over the ribbing in small flecks: what remains is a trace left by light in the dark.

Where it works

Long spaces — dining halls, meeting rooms, lobbies, receptions, galleries, corridors. The length is chosen for the zone: the composition can run the whole length of a table or follow the perimeter of a room.

Style

Contemporary minimalism and gallery aesthetics: bare walls, large planes, no small decor. The message is a gesture — the composition is about the movement of a hand, not about an object.
