A composition about a city. Arches, windows, portals, rectangular plates — some with rounded tops, some stepped, some flat: the vocabulary of architecture broken down into signs. Each element is turned at its own angle, and from a distance the mass reads as a city skyline with roofs, spires and windows receding into depth.

The array is dense: hundreds of plates at varied levels, overlapping, level at the top and deeply sagging below.

By day it is graphics made of mirrored silhouettes — flat, sharp, read through outline. In the evening the mirrored plates reflect the light and pass it to one another: an endless exchange of highlights builds inside the composition, the source is impossible to locate, and every arch reflects its neighbour. A panorama with lit windows — a city reflected in itself.

Where it works

An elongated horizontal format — long dining tables, lobbies, meeting rooms, reception areas. The skyline reads from a distance: the piece is designed for a view from the entrance, not from directly beneath.

Style

Art Deco and urban modernism: architecture as ornament. The message is metropolitan — a piece for an interior that loves the city.
