A composition about dark water. Concentric waves of deep black with a mirrored gloss spread from an off-centre point, welling over one another — rings from a stone thrown into water at night.

The finish is wholly glossy, without a single matte area: the frame reflects everything around it and all but disappears in the dark, leaving only bands of highlight. That sets it apart from the gold versions in principle — here it is not colour that works but pure reflection.

By day the object reads graphically, black against the wall; the convex plate with its warm golden cast draws the room into a compact frame, and against the black waves that reflection looks like a window cut into a dark surface — the only warm patch in the whole object. In the evening the frame all but dissolves, and only the glowing circle of the reflection remains, hanging on its own.

Where it works

Interiors in a dark palette — entrance halls, private studies, bars, living rooms, gallery walls. Against a pale wall the disappearing act does not work.

Style

Dark luxury and contemporary minimalism: black gloss as the principal language. The message is austere — a piece for an interior that does not flirt.
