A composition about a horn with a crystal. The element is double: a cone rolled into a bell with an open mouth, and a faceted cube at its wide end. It reads both as a horn with a mouthpiece and as a flower with a crystal for its heart — a form from the world of machinery and a form from the world of minerals in one object.

The elements hang at varied angles: some mouth up, some down, some sideways. The bowl is shallow, and in places the elements interlock into clusters.

By day it is a cluster of gold flowers with icy hearts: the bells work through reflection, the cubes through refraction. In the evening the light leaves the bell for the crystal, which gathers it, refracts it on the facets and flares from within, while the cone remains a reflector — lit, but not luminous itself. The orientations vary, so the glowing crystals face every direction.

Where it works

Living rooms with high ceilings, dining rooms, lobbies, banquet halls. The absence of a principal view means the piece is placed at the centre of a zone, not against a wall.

Style

Art Deco and industrial luxury: a mechanical form with a precious filling. The message is ceremonial — a piece for a formal space.
