A composition about a vein of amber. The stones are irregular and tumbled, with faceted sides and dents — not one repeats its neighbour, the surface smooth and mirrored in places, welling up in others. The tone is honey-amber, almost colourless here and dense there: resin never has an even colour.

The cloud is dense, level at the top with a ragged lower edge — a few stones descend deeper than the rest. Enough air is left between the elements to see the depth.

By day it is a scatter of amber — warm, translucent, living on the refraction of daylight. In the evening the light passes through several layers, gathering temperature, and emerges already dense with honey; each stone works as a lens for its neighbour, and the source is impossible to locate. A vein glowing inside rock.

Where it works

An elongated horizontal format — long dining tables, bar counters, lobbies, meeting rooms. The layering is seen from the side and below: the piece is hung fairly low.

Style

Organic minimalism and the Baltic amber tradition: the stone exactly as it is. The message is warm and collector-minded — a piece chosen by feel rather than from a catalogue.
