A composition about a line folded into a loop. A long pin bent into a half-circle at the end reads both as a paper clip and as the tubing of a wind instrument. What they share is a path travelled by something invisible — paper in one case, air in the other. Here that path carries light.

The loops hang vertically, layered, threaded through one another and overlapping, level at the top and deeply sagging below. Because everything is clear, you see straight through.

By day it is an interlacing of clear tubes with gold insets — graphics read through outline. In the evening the light enters a loop and runs its whole length like a lightguide, rounding the bend and bursting out at the cut end as a bright point; the gold loops reflect and give warm bands. What you read is not form but a net of glowing lines nested inside one another.

Where it works

Living rooms with high ceilings, dining rooms, lobbies, meeting rooms. Transparency in depth works when seen from the side — the piece is not pushed up against the ceiling.

Style

Contemporary minimalism and industrial graphics: the line instead of the volume. The message is spare — a piece for an interior that rests on structure.
