A composition about a cut fruit. The scaled shell is built petal by petal, and in the cut a milky interior glows — the piece shows what on a real lychee is visible only once it has been opened.

The branches wind as a horizontal vine, the fruits facing in different directions; pomegranate red is intermixed with white.

By day it is a cluster of tropical fruit on gold — a dense red read through the scaled texture, a bold and rare register. In the evening the milky cuts light up, the red shell stays dark, and the composition burns from within: fruit filled with light.
