A composition about heat under ash. The light burns only inside the clear stones while the red ones merely reflect it: the ruby mass does not glow on its own, it is heated by its neighbours. That is how coals smoulder — the light comes not from everywhere but from inside the heap.

Hundreds of faceted stones are gathered into a crescent bowl on the finest of cables: a piece of jewellery at the scale of an interior, treasure poured out into the air.

By day it is a scattering of deep ruby and clear — a piece read through faceting and colour, dense and rich. In the evening the clear crystals flare, the red ones pick up their light, and the scattering begins to shimmer unevenly. The red is metered out by the light — the composition is deep rather than loud.
