A composition about direction. This flock has no top and no front — only a direction of flight, and that is set at assembly. The composition has no orientation of its own: it takes one from the room.

Ribbed boat-shapes fly in a wide crescent, each at its own angle; clear ones are intermixed with olive green, the tips gilded.

By day it is light graphic work in the air: the ribbing reads as hatching and the composition has almost no mass. In the evening points of light are scattered through the flock and ignite the ribbing — the feathers flare as they do under a low sun, when the light travels along rather than from above.

Where it works

Living rooms, lobbies, meeting rooms, restaurant halls. The direction of flight is chosen along the route of movement from the entrance — the composition leads the eye.

Style

Natural Art Nouveau and contemporary sculpture: the feather as a motif of lightness. The message is alive — a piece for an interior that dislikes stasis.
