A composition about a single movement. A square plate is pressed in at the centre and turned up at the corners — a figure folded with one push, with no pattern and no second step. The simplicity of the device is its strength.

The cloud is very flat in silhouette and deep in layers: the plates hang at different heights, and as you move through the room it constantly reassembles itself.

By day it is a field of folded figures — clear intermixed with smoky amber, read through folds and overlays. In the evening light burns beneath each plate and flows down the folds, and the field shimmers at two temperatures at once, cold and warm. Origami that has caught fire.

Where it works

Lobbies, meeting rooms, dining rooms, panoramic living rooms. The flat silhouette suits rooms of medium height, where a bulky composition would be heavy.

Style

Japanese minimalism and contemporary design: the fold instead of the form. The message is light and intellectual — a piece for an interior that likes simple solutions.
