A composition about a dragonfly's wing. The finest longitudinal hatching on every leaf is not decor but structure: on a real wing these are the veins that hold the transparent film. The author uses that literally — in the evening the light travels along exactly that hatching.

The branches interlace, the feathers point in different directions, the density grows toward the centre: the composition reads as a thicket rather than a bouquet.

By day, from a distance, it is a pink cloud; up close a collection of separate feathers, each at its own angle, lilac-pink intermixed with smoky and clear. In the evening light from the joints lifts the feathers from below, the hatching flares, and every leaf comes to resemble a dragonfly's wing.

Living rooms, boudoirs, bedrooms, reception areas, boutiques. The dusty pink register is rare in light objects and needs neutral surroundings so as not to argue with the finishes.

Style
