A composition about rain through foliage. Two tiers work toward one image: above, a dense ring of leaves with the sources hidden between them; below, dozens of faceted clear drops. Light from the canopy passes through them and ignites them from within — the effect of rain lit by a setting sun through branches.

The contrast is set firmly: warm matte foliage above, cold transparency below. Neither repeats the other; they complement each other in temperature.

By day it is a wreath with a clear fringe — gold and transparency, a piece read as silhouette. In the evening it becomes a glowing cloud with water pouring out of it; the drops sway with the movement of air and the highlights run about constantly.

Where it works

A round form — above a dining table, in an entrance hall, in the centre of a living room. The fringe sets the lower boundary: the composition hangs higher than its diameter would suggest.

Style

Art Nouveau and formal classicism: a wreath with pendants in a contemporary reading. The message is ceremonial and warm — a piece for the table people gather at.
