A composition about vanishing. A thick form rolled into a shell with a wavy edge — an orchid petal, a rolled leaf, a sea shell. Entirely clear, without colour, with powerful optical distortions inside: a piece that exists by virtue of what it does to light rather than by its own appearance.

The sphere is dense at the centre and sparse at the edges, so it has no defined boundary — a cloud rather than a sphere.

By day the object all but dissolves, leaving only contours and flares along the edges: in a light room it is easy to overlook. In the evening light from the depth reflects off the inner surfaces of the petals, breaks up and comes out as soft highlights — the source cannot be located by eye. A glowing sphere with no edge.

Where it works

Light interiors with high ceilings — living rooms, lobbies, dining rooms, bedrooms. The composition adds volume without adding weight: it suits places that must not be made heavier.

Style

Contemporary classic and minimalism: transparency as the principal quality. The message is lightness — a piece for an interior that does not want a dominant.
