An object about a shell being a house built along a spiral. The form is coiled so that it has neither a beginning nor an end: the gaze is drawn inside and finds no floor.

The light is hidden deep in the whorl and comes out not straight but in a circle, drawing the curve. The result is not a luminaire but a find — something raised from the sea bed that goes on glowing by itself.

The birds between the shells keep the composition from the literal: sea and air in one scene — a device that stops the object becoming a seaside corner in the souvenir sense.

By day it is a sculptural find — a spiral read through plasticity and the highlights along the whorl. In the evening the light comes out in a circle, drawing the curve, and the shell begins to glow of its own accord, like something raised from the sea bed that will not go out.
