A composition about ash and heat. The outer face is opaque, dark grey and rough — as though covered in ash or oxide. The inner hollow is gilded and polished to a mirror. The contrast is set hard and holds the whole piece on a single device: from outside the object is almost invisible, from inside it is white-hot.

The elements are turned in different directions — some show a grey back, others open a burning interior. The bowl is dense, without gaps: the mass reads as something already burnt through on the surface.

By day the composition is restrained and graphic — a sculpture in unworked metal, a dark silhouette below the ceiling. In the evening the figures vanish into the dark entirely and what remains is a net of glowing gold triangles suspended in emptiness. You see not the form but its lining.

Interiors in a dark palette — private living rooms, bars, lounges, lobbies, restaurants. The device only works against a dark ground: against a pale wall the grey face stops disappearing.
