A composition about armour. The leaves hang in dense tiers, overlapping like plumage or like plates of armour, and the cone narrows downward: the form reads now as a folded wing, now as a fir cone, now as a suit of armour. The ambiguity works toward the image of protection — everything listed covers something of value.

By day it is a dark sculptural mass — a blind, heavy piece that absorbs light. In the evening the light hidden under the feathers reflects off the gold reverse and only a warm radiance from the depth escapes: a dark exterior, a glowing interior. Armour with a fire under it.
