A composition about the difference between finishes. The wings themselves give no light here — the sources stand between them, on gold holders. The wings only receive the light, and the whole piece is built on how differently they do it: the opaque white ones diffuse it into a soft patch, the mirrored ones reflect and pass it onward to their neighbours.

The form is a curved wing with a sharp tip and a deep hollow. The bowl is dense, the assembly spiral, the wings turned in every direction and overlapping in places.

By day it is a flock stilled below the ceiling: white mixed with mirror, read through silhouette and reflection. In the evening one half of the composition is always calm and the other sparkling, and as you walk around they change places — a swarm that burns in every other wing.

Where it works

Living rooms with high ceilings, lobbies, stairwells, banquet halls. The spiral assembly asks to be seen in the round: the piece is not placed against a wall.

Style
