Lighting composition
LC0039
A composition about a wreath drawn out into a spiral. The laurel is a symbol whose form has always been closed: wreath, ring, circle. The author unwinds it into a vertical, and the sign turns back into a plant.
The leaves sit in pairs and groups: white beside gold, then two gold in a row, then white again — the alternation is free, with no pattern. The spiral narrows below, where single leaves descend alone.
By day it is a wreath drawn into a spiral: white gloss with drawn veining beside mirrored gold, graphic and ceremonial. In the evening the white leaves transmit the light and glow from within in soft milk, while the gold ones reflect and flare sharply; each leaf lights the one below it, and a constant exchange of warm and cool runs through the crown. A laurel that burns in every other leaf.
Where it works
A vertical format — stairwells, atria, double-height living rooms, reception rooms. The spiral needs height and a view from several levels.
Style
Classical antiquity in a contemporary reading: the wreath without the pathos. The message is ceremonial — a piece for a representative space.
The overall height, the number of leaves and the ratio of white to gold are all made to order.
