A composition about an evening horizon. Hundreds of narrow plates on cables of differing length form the silhouette of a city: setbacks, towers, gaps, light in the windows. Inside each is a matte drawing, as though branches or currents had set in the mass.

The composition never looks the same twice: as you move around it the plates reassemble — a dense wall from one position, transparent lacework from another.

By day it is the graphic of silhouettes read through overlay and inner drawing; the same form in emerald, crystal white and amber sounds like a northern forest, a winter city or a sunset. In the evening points of warm light scatter between the plates like lights in windows, and the horizon catches fire.

Where it works

A cascade above a living room, an extended wave along a staircase, a dense cloud in an entrance hall. The shape is assembled for the space and reads from a distance.

Style

Urban modernism and contemporary sculpture: the city as a motif. The message is narrative — a piece that sets the mood of a whole room.
