Knowledge escaping its binding. The image reads at once and without explanation: the volumes open, the pages separate and fly downward, and the lower you look the more of them there are.

The contrast is set hard: a heavy dark top and a weightless luminous base. The books stay opaque, the pages glow — the object gives out light only when it stops being an object.

By day it is a frozen explosion of paper — graphics, shadow, volume. In the evening the pages light up and the falling becomes luminous: a blizzard in which every snowflake is a page that has been read.

Libraries, studies, lobbies of educational institutions, book-lined staircases in private houses, stairwells, atria.

Style

Intellectual classicism and the contemporary library: dark timber, leather, tall shelving. The message is enlightenment — a composition about content mattering more than the medium.
