A composition about the outline. These leaves have no body — only a closed thickened rim, with emptiness or the thinnest membrane inside. The author keeps the boundary of the form and removes its content: the leaf is reduced to its own contour.

The leaves hang flat, in layers, turned at random; through the upper ones you see the lower. Some are turquoise, some carry a milky haze, and the colour is drawn into the body unevenly, in bands — traces of hand-drawing are visible and nowhere concealed.

By day it is a flock of leaves lifted by wind: the mass is transparent right through, and the composition reads as light to the point of weightlessness. In the evening the principal device engages — the light runs along the thickened contour like a lightguide and traces every leaf with a glowing line. The turquoise fill with colour, the clear ones give a white flare. In the dark only the outlines remain.

Generous rooms — lobbies, panoramic living rooms, dining rooms, meeting rooms. The layering reads at a distance; in a tight room the contours merge.

Style

Art Nouveau in a contemporary idiom: a natural motif reduced to line. The message is graphic — a piece for an interior that loves drawing.
