Decorative composition
LC0091
A composition about a dismantled stained-glass window. Every leaf is assembled from coloured segments joined by gold soldering, and the seams work as veins and as load-bearing frame at once: pattern and structure are one and the same thing here, so the leaf reads even without light.
The forms vary — some broad and five-lobed, some narrow with sharp teeth. The leaves are turned at random and hang at varied levels; below, a few break away and fall alone.
By day it is a thicket of ivy — from grass green to dark olive and almost black, read through colour against the light. In the evening the light passes through the segments, each filling with its own tone — pale green beside bottle green — while the gold seams flare as a graphic net laid over the colour. A crown lit from within.
Where it works
Generous rooms — lobbies, atria, winter gardens, double-height living rooms, restaurant floors. Stained glass is made to be seen against the light: the piece is placed where people look up at it.
Style
Art Nouveau and the Tiffany stained-glass tradition: a plant motif in coloured mosaic. The message is collector-minded — a piece for an interior that values handwork.
The overall size, the number of leaves, the palette of the segments and the pattern of the soldering are all made to order.
