A view from the bottom of a pond. The composition is built to be looked at from below: only then does the view open through several layers of turquoise toward the surface, toward the light.

The colour is not uniform — dense, almost emerald at the stalk, lightening toward the edge to clear water. This is the gradient of a real body of water: the closer to the surface, the paler.

By day the object stays calm and graphic — foliage laid out in tiers. In the evening the water switches on: the turquoise glows from within, the gold of the branches picks up the reflection, and the composition acquires an underwater aura it did not have by day.

Two vertical variants are shown, differing in height and in the density of the tiers.

Style
